Ben Nevis Walking Weekend 3rd - 5th June - Without Adventure What Is Life!

This package includes: car sharing transport, central Accommodation, walking guide and social guide, sense of achievement with certificate and heaps of FUN!

Ben Nevis, “a mountain of heaven” at 4,409 ft is the highest mountain on the British Isles. One of the National Three Peaks and a stunning peak, it formed over 400 million years ago as a volcano during the continental collision.

Same as many other peaks in Scotland which formed this way, it’s not an active volcano, but the rocks and geological features pointing to its origin are still clearly visible today. On a clear day it offers stunning views of the surrounding area and a tremendous sense of achievement.

During our weekend in Scotland we will be staying at the Glen Nevis YHA. Set in an awe-inspiring glen, the hostel sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis and the path to the summit begins directly at the hostel. We will set out (car sharing) from Manchester on Friday and arrive to Glen Nevis in the evening for a dinner and a pint of two to get to know your fellow walkers.

On Saturday after a hearty breakfast we will climb Ben Nevis (10.5 miles, 6-7h) and celebrate in the evening with a well deserved meal down in the valley. You don’t need to be an experienced walker to do this, and we have all day to climb, we will take our time so that everyone makes it up the mountain and back.

On Sunday we will slowly make our way back to Manchester, visiting the stunning Steall Falls in the Nevis valley (Britain’s second highest waterfall with a single drop of 120m) and perhaps even the Ben Nevis distillery for that all important souvenir from the Scottish Highlands.

What's included: accommodation and the professional mountain guide to take you up and down the mountain safely with great time!

Kit list: walking trousers (not jeans), spare trousers, walking boots (not trainers), spare shoes, warm clothes, waterproofs, hat, gloves (there can be snow up Ben Nevis even in June!), day pack, thermos or water bottle.
