There's a lot of scenic variation on this walk because we start on the bleak gritstone moors of Axe Edge and walk South into the softer rolling limestone landscape of Chrome Hill - a.k.a. "The Dragon's Back" because of its distinctive shape. Social Circle have walked the Dragon's Back before, but not from this starting point. Definitely some steep uphill sections, some of them a grassy (rather than rocky) scramble. Definitely also a boots-not-trainers day. Having other shoes to change into for the ride back is considerate since we try to share cars to minimise our impact on the planet (well, costs, mostly). This walk is about 8 miles and ought to take 4 and half hours - we'll emphasise the "amble" in ramble. Afterwards we'll have lunch in a pub - which one depends on numbers, as the best one nearby will need booking in advance. So everyone sign up early if you know what's good for you!
