Big Walk and Sunday Roast in The Peak District Distance: 14.5 miles
Length: 6h (excluding stops)
Difficulty: 4 (1-5 scale) 2 steep ascents
Transport: train (10:18 Manchester Piccadilly to Glossop; returning from Edale)
Cost: £10
A day linear hike leaving from the market town of Glossop in Peak District, via an old Roman track of Doctor’s Gate onto Snake Pass and then to Kinder Scout (2,087 feet; 636 m), the highest point in Peak District and in Derbyshire. This walk includes some of the most spectacular gritstone scenery that Dark Peak area has to offer. We’ll descend to Edale via the picturesque Jacob’s Ladder and have a hearty pub dinner in the Rambler Country Inn in beautiful village of Edale, the starting point of the Pennine Way. Kit list: hat, gloves, warm clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers, walking trousers walking boots as may be slippy tea flask.
