Recently divorced and in search of a fresh start, Sarah (Elisabeth Shue) and her daughter Elissa (Jennifer Lawrence) move to a nice house in an upmarket rural town. But there's only one way that Sarah can afford to rent such a desirable property. The house next door was the scene of a terrible crime. A young girl named Carrie Ann killed both her parents and then drowned herself. But local rumour has it that she can still be seen lurking in the woods. When Elissa starts to get close to the dead girl's brother Ryan (Max Thieriot), terrifying and inexplicable events start to occur. She then learns that a dark secret remains within those walls, with shattering consequences for all involved!
