Brand New Social Circle European City Break: Be the coolest kid on the Nordic block.

Join us for three days in Copenhagen on the 17th to the 19th of February; a city that's edgier than Stockholm and worldlier than Oslo. The Danish capital truly gives Scandinavia the X factor.

So join us in exploring this fantastic city. With once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to be had, you may just find yourself making some lifelong friends along the way. As well as experiencing all of the great attractions, there will be plenty of opportunities to get social, keeping with the ethos of what we're all about. New friends...New city...we think you'll love it!

Copenhagen is not only the coolest kid on the Nordic block, but also gets constantly ranked as the happiest city in the world.

Unsurprisingly for a city with 1,000 years of royal history, it does well on the castles-and-palaces-per-square-inch score. It also offers a surprisingly rich and varied mix of other cultural attractions, including excellent museums, fine architecture and interiors, extensive European and Islamic art collections and a thriving fashion scene that has launched several designers internationally, including Malene Birger, Day Birger et Mikkelsen and Bruuns Bazaar. There’s a full musical calendar of jazz, opera and… ahem… Eurovision 2014.

Getting fed and watered is also a joy. Copenhagen is the hub of the modern Nordic food movement and has Scandinavia’s largest collection of Michelin stars. The nightlife, largely conducted in smart wine bars, microbreweries and cocktail bars, is reassuringly refined. Unlike in some other, harder-partying European cities

Spend the morning ticking off the sights and must-dos. Fans of Borgen should start on Slotsholmen, the central islet that’s home to
Christiansborg Slot, the neoclassical parliament, as well as several museums and cultural institutions. Compare with the waterfront’s glass and steel extension to the Royal Danish Library known as the Black Diamond, whose ground-floor cafe does terrific coffee and cakes.

Lunch by a waterway near the parliament building at Katz, a vibey, candlelit bar with a menu that mixes bistro favourites with national dishes, including hakkebof, the Danish beefburger. Get a snug window seat and people-watching over

Take a break at Torvehallerne the city’s contemporary food market that’s a landmark in its own right. A magnet for the wealthy and health-conscious grocery shopper, the twin halls are open seven days a week and good a place to pick up artisan marshmallows, truffles and spices in between sips of single-estate espresso.

Any gift-finding mission begins and ends with Stroget, Europe’s longest pedestrianised shopping drag - so long, in fact, on maps it is broken up into component streets. Include a stop-off at Illums Bolighus a designer cave of effortless good taste where even the escalators are a feature. To escape the crowds, head to Nordic Nesting whose trinkets have a festive flavour – wooden carved reindeer, seasonal linen, tree decorations which can be boxed for transit. And when closing time approaches, browsers are offered wine.

Wind you way to the far end of Nyhavn harbour for dinner at Almanak a smart-casual Nordic kitchen with a sense of fun: the delicious house sourdough is served in brown paper bags, Douglas fir is a cocktail ingredient, and granola with goats cheese is a starter. Three courses, 350DKK.

Stroll around Botanisk Have , Copenhagen’s hilly botanical gardens that are home to an inventive plant-lined hike, a spectacular central pond like a giant compact, and a humid palmhouse offering respite from the cold.

Do your best to dodge the runners doing circuits around Swan Lake – a giant man-made body of water with a bird sanctuary in the middle – to head into the rival hipster districts of Nørrebro and Vesterbro. Plan your advance on the numerous galleries, design showrooms and antique shops - especially those along Ravnsborggade – in cosy corner hangout, Cafe 22

Make a beeline through the beautiful Assistens Kirkegard graveyard – final resting place of several notable Danes, including Hans Christian Andersen, philosopher Søren Kierkegaard and the Nobel physicist Niels Bohr – and head to Jaegersborggade, a vibrant side street of boutiques and brunch spots.

Great stay in a sympathetically converted warehouse”

It's a big hotel, but feels quiet intimate, the staff were really helpful and very kind and friendly. Its in an old dock side warehouse, tall and narrow, a really interesting building with massive beams. Our room was lovely -
