Castleton YHA is a lovely refurbished Victorian Gothic mansion in 27 acres of parkland in the Peak District, with the lively village itself just 10 minutes walk away.
Castleton is a 10-minute walk away, with tea & coffee houses & 5 pubs serving good food. There are several caverns within walking-distance. Treak Cliff Cavern, for example, has amazing stalactites & is the only place in the world where the mineral BlueJohn Stone naturally occurs, & Peveril Castle is a Norman fortress with fantastic views, & is only a quarter of a mile away.
Hope train station is a couple of miles away.
Suitable for all levels of fitness and experience, as adaptations can be given throughout the sessions.
You will be required to fill out a health questionnaire prior to the retreat and email it to Cilla, where you can discuss any injuries or limitations prior to the event.
Pilates is a full body workout, improving posture & overall strength & flexibility; the pelvic floor as well as core strength.
Pure Stretch is a full body stretch, releasing the body from aches and tightness, lengthening muscles, improving posture and calming the mind.
What is included
Three sessions in total – one Pure Stretch class, one Pilates class, & one longer class incorporating both Pilates & Pure Stretch; two nights accommodation in a shared en-suite room - bunk-bed style; a full English breakfast both mornings; a 2-course evening meal on the first evening; use of all facilities including a restaurant & modern self-catering kitchen.Free time is scheduled in on Saturday to allow time to explore the local area and village.
Itinery & Session times
You are welcome to check in from mid Friday afternoon. On the first evening we will enjoy a 2-course meal together, and from Saturday morning Cilla will lead the sessions of Pure Stretch & Pilates. The first session will be on Saturday before breakfast - expected to start at 8am - & the last session is on Sunday morning. Free time is built into the schedule on the Saturday, allowing people to go for a walk or explore the beautiful countryside as they wish.
Meals & catering
There is a choice for our meal on the Friday evening, and a full hot & cold breakfast is provided both mornings. There is a restaurant on-site where you can purchase an evening meal on the Saturday. Alternatively, you can dine in one of the pubs or restaurants in Castleton. There is a modern & well-equipped self-catering kitchen & dining room at the venue. This enables you to mix & match purchased and self-catered meals as you prefer, allowing you to control any budgetary or dietary requirements.
Please feel free to bring your own fitness/pilates mat if you have one, or if you require a mat, please get in touch so that we can arrange to take one for you.
We will try & help co-ordinate transport if people are looking to car-share from the Manchester area, or would like to share a taxi from Hope train station.
About 2 weeks before the retreat, detailed information - including session times, room allocation, transport & parking information, meal options etc. - will be sent out.
