The great German tenor's now legendary performance, recorded live at the stunning home of Italian opera. Few operatic performances have been received quite as rapturously as Jonas Kaufmann's concert at the historic La Scala in Milan on June 14, 2015. The greatest tenor of his generation, Kaufmann won no fewer than five encores with this bravura display of his exceptional technique, vocal power and versatility. After 40 minutes of tumultuous applause, the audience were still demanding more. The following day's headline writers found themselves seeking new superlatives. Fortunately for cinema audiences, cameras were on hand to capture this electrifying experience in glorious HD. Kaufmann himself narrates a revealing introduction to opera superstar Puccini's life and work, illustrated with rare archive footage. His breathtaking performance takes in arias and scenes from Tosca, Manon Lescaut, La Fanciulla del West and, of course, Turandot - including a truly mesmerising Nessun Dorma.
