Come and join us for an afternoon of culture visiting this fantastic museum and one of the North Wests best examples of award-winning architecture. Opening in July 2002 the Imperial War Museum North was designed by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind. IWM North is about people and their stories – it is about how war continues to shape and change lives. The Main Exhibition Space takes you through a timeline of wars Britain and the Commonwealth have been involved in from the First World War to the present day. The Special Exhibition Gallery houses changing exhibitions, and is currently home to From Street to Trench: A World War that Shaped a Region, which reveals the important contribution the North West made to the First World War both at home and on the frontline. Take advantage of this great museum right on your doorstep! It’s FREE ENTRY! After a couple of hours visiting the museum, dependant on the weather we may take a walk around the Quays and perhaps visit one of the local bars for a drink.
