This walk starts and ends near Coombs, a village just outside Whaley Bridge.  It's not as flat around there as it is in Cheshire, so expect hills (but not mountains).  We'll walk over into the Goyt Valley and along the river and the Fernilee reservoir, then back over the hills to Coombs where we'll end up at the Beehive Inn (http://www.thebeehiveinn.co.uk/) for a slap-up Sunday dinner.

Total distance should be around 8-9 miles. You'll definitely needs boots rather than shoes/trainers, but as we'll be car sharing, bring some to change into afterwards.  Jeans are not a good idea since they get heavy and cold if it rains.

Regular walking can:

  • fill you with energy and confidence
  • help you beat stress
  • make your heart fitter and strengthen your bones
  • help you keep your weight down
