Snowdonia to the Gower is one of the most spectacular long distance paths in the UK, covering all the mountainous sights of Wales. The Snowdonia section of this path stretches from Colwyn Bay to Porthmadog, offering amazing views of Snowdonia National Park and tremendous sense of achievement, bypassing Tryfan and encompassing some of the stunning Glyders and Snowdon itself.
We will cover this path in 3 days on our walking holiday and finish in the pretty town of Porthmadog with a well deserved Sunday roast and a pint.
Saturday 30th April
Please bring a packed lunch. We will drive to Llanfairfechan in the morning (1.5h), and walk for 6h (11.5 miles, difficulty 4) over the beautiful Carneddau section of the Snowdonia National Park, overnighting at the lovely Idwal Cottage YHA, with a well deserved dinner and a pint (dinner included).
Sunday 1st May
After a hearty breakfast (included) we will embark on the second day of our challenge, covering the stunnig Glydders and (optional) Snowdon (11 miles, 7h, difficulty 4), and overnighting at Bryn Gwynant YHA at the foothills of Snowdon (packed lunch included, dinner not included, 3 course meal at the YHA £8.50 per person).
Monday 2nd May
After a full English breakfast at the YHA (£5.25 per person; £5 for packed lunches) we will wind down towards the coast, as the day 3 of our challenge will take us through some lower hills and small villages down to the coastal town of Porthmadog (10 miles, 5h, difficulty 3) where we will have our celebratory Sunday roast and grab a taxi back to the cars in Llanfairfechan.
What’s included: All accommodation, meals at Ydwal Cottage YHA and guiding for this great challenge.
What’s not included: Meals at the Bryn Gwynant YHA, drinks, Sunday roast and transport back to cars (shared taxi).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This walk requires a certain level of fitness. We will be walking between 5 and 7 hours every day in a mountainous terrain. The majority of the walk is in remote areas where mountain rescue without actual emergency will be very costly; please make sure you are fit enough before booking on this challenge.
Kit list: hat, gloves, warm clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers, gaiters, walking trousers, well broken in walking boots, a few pairs of walking socks, comfortable day pack, watter bottle, tea flask, slippers or sandals for the hostels, personal first aid kit, walking poles (optional). A detailed kit list will be emailed closer to departure date.
