What a breathtaking tour! Yes, Knutsford is the most beautiful small town in the North-West. Classy Cranford in Chi-Chi Cheshire. Home town of Mrs Gaskell. It’s Tatton, for a few months of General Patton, and the maddest architecture in the North-West on the maddest street (Pevsner).
This is a sumptuous tour laced with character and charisma, smouldering with salubriousness and serenity.
We will stroll around town to hear about Mrs Gaskell and Cranford, Alan Turing, the highwayman Edward Higgins, Tatton Park and wartime saboteurs. If yous all walk quickly enough we will saunter along the most remarkable street in England; maddening, mad, marvellous architecture and collapse into the Legh Arms for a much-needed pint.
The tour is led by Ed Glinert, one of the monastery’s official guides and joint founder of New Manchester Walks.
