3 Peaks Final Training Walk - FREE to those doing the 3 Peaks Weekend Challenge

Beautiful walk starting in the former mill town of Glossop in the north-western corner of the Peak District. We'll follow the old pack-horse or Roman road of Doctor's Gate which then joins up with Pennine Way trail near the Snake Pass and offers wonderfull views of neighbouring hills and valleys. From there we'll follow the Pennine Way to the source of the River Dervent, the Bleaklow Plateau (nearly 2,000 feet above sea level (610m)), which also contains the most easterly point in the British Isles over 2,000 feet, near Bleaklow Stones. Bleaklow is covered by boggy peat moorland which makes it the most navigationally challenging and rewarding plateau in the Peak District, and with weather beaten grit stones such as the Wain 'kissing' Stones offers plenty of wonderful dark scenery, so typical for this part of Peak District.

Kit list: waterproof jacket, good trousers (not jeans!), good walking boots (this time no trekking shoes please), gaiters (depending on the weather it may be very muddy), warm jumper, packed lunch, tea/cofee, water, hat, sunglasses, sun cream (if sunny).
